BA Unveils New First Class Cabin
British Airways launched its new First Class cabins last week with an inaugural Boeing 777 flight from London (LHR) to Chicago (ORD), carrying frequent flyer and actress Rachel Weisz and CEO Willie Walsh. The GBP 100 million makeover means BA passengers will fly in first-class suites with seats that convert into lie-flat beds 60 percent wider at the shoulders than the previous seats. The 'intelligent' mattress has 400-thread count linen and the overall design inspiration is said to be leading British brands such as Aston Martin and Jaguar. The first-class suites have a personal wardrobe and blinds, a 15-inch in-flight entertainment screen and a USB port, RCA jack and noise-cancelling headset among other features. Passengers will be provided with luxurious amenities by London's D.R. Harris & Co. in an Anya Hindmarsh washbag.
