Kingfisher Gains International Routes
India's Kingfisher Airlines is adding more destinations in Asia, Europe and the Middle East to its international route network. The Government of India granted Kingfisher traffic rights to operate on seven new international routes out of New Delhi (DEL) and Mumbai (BOM). From New Delhi Kingfisher will fly to London (LHR) and Hong Kong (HKG), Bangkok (BKK) and Dubai (DXB). The carrier will also fly to Bangkok and Dubai from Mumbai and will add a Mumbai-Colombo (CMB) route. The start dates for the routes has not been confirmed however the airline says it plans to use Airbus A330s on the flights from Delhi to Hong Kong and London, and Airbus A320s on the other new routes. Dr Vijay Mallya, chairman and CEO, Kingfisher Airlines, indicated that the airline may consider adding new aircraft to its fleet earlier than expected in order to capitalize on the upturn in traffic.
