Jetstar Network Grows In Asia
Jetstar has launched its first route into China and added extra flights to Phuket (HKT) from Singapore and Australia. On Dec. 15 Jetstar boosted two routes by adding a second daily flight on the Singapore (SIN)–Phuket route and increased flights on its Sydney (SYD)–Phuket service from three to five per week. The following day the low-cost carrier launched its first service to China with four flights a week from Singapore to Haikou (HAK) on Hainan Island. Next year Jetstar will become the first foreign airline to fly to Shantou (SWA) in Guangdong province when its Singapore–Shantou service starts on Feb. 2, 2010. The Jetstar Group includes wholly owned Qantas subsidiaries operating from Australia and New Zealand and partner carriers including Jetstar Asia and Valuair in Singapore and Jetstar Pacific in Vietnam.
