Lufthansa Celebrates 50 Years In Asia
Lufthansa recently celebrated the anniversary of its first scheduled flights from Germany to India and Thailand in November 1959 by announcing it had consolidated its position as the largest European airline group in Asia Pacific. Germany’s largest carrier now operates 235 weekly flights from 23 gateways in nine countries across the Asia-Pacific region. The number of passengers flying from Asia to Europe with Lufthansa now matches the number of passengers originating in Europe. “Our strategy of sustainable growth in the successful Asian markets is paying off: The customers and our sales partners in the industry are not only honouring our high quality, but also our network offer to Europe and beyond,” said Uwe Mueller, vice-president Asia Pacific, Lufthansa.
