SQ Starts Daily A380 Service To Melbourne


Singapore Airlines launched its A380 service between Singapore (SIN) and Melbourne (MEL) on Sept 29. Melbourne is the second Australian city and sixth city in Singapore Airlines’ network to receive the A380. Singapore Airlines currently operates 21 weekly flights between Singapore and Melbourne, including the daily A380 service. The 471-seat double-decker aircraft, flight number SQ227, departs Singapore at 21:00 and arrives in Melbourne at 06:10 the following morning. The return flight SQ228 then departs Melbourne at 16:50, arriving in Singapore at 21:40. Currently Singapore Airlines has 10 A380s in its fleet, serving London (LHR), Tokyo (NRT), Paris (CDG), Hong Kong (HKG) and now, Melbourne. The airline also has a further nine A380s on firm order and options on six more.
